BEHIND THE COLORS

“Where there is no vision people perish.”

Proverbs 29:18

One of Alyrical’s favorite bible verses, but not until she got older and found out how much her vision truly meant to her. From birth Alyrical has had a secret love affair with the arts, creating and winning awards as soon as first grade, but never saw it as something to pursue through adulthood, until she began to lose her eyesight.

In the early days Alyrical created as an escape from the world around her, especially the destructive relationship she had with her father, and music became her biggest influence because it was another form of coping.  All of her painting began to have some sort of emotional and lyrical influence, thus the name Alyrical began to form ( the A coming from her middle initial). With life playing it regular role of distracting someone from their dreams, she stop producing, instead focusing on studies, and working and well life. Until Alyrical met a fellow artist who asked her to participate in some upcoming local show cases, she created some pieces two nights before the show, but was still was not consistent.

Then a month after taking finals her junior year of college, her now husband saw her eyesight deteriorating, and took Alyrical to the optometrist where she was diagnosed with keratoconus and told they could do nothing for her and she would inevitably go blind. Her talent and escape never meant more to her in that moment. Within in that month of leaving school her vision had gone from ok to legally blind in both eyes, she was using a magnify glass to read her cell phone, and colors were the only thing she make out with true distinction. Doctor visit to visit and treatment after treatment, art began to look like a distant memory and taking its place was depression and fear.  Months had to pass by and then Alyrical had received a phone call from a Pastor who want her to do some interruptive paintings for the congregation, nervously she accepted. Those three pieces became a major turning point her art career, despite her disability Alyrical found her inner vision and began creating again. Not only painting but now creating portraits for clients. Still having setbacks with her eyesight, Alyrical has committed to walking in faith and pursuing her vision.

Even after the revelation, receiving awards, having her work owned by celebrities, and exhibits in remarkable places like Time Square and Art Basel Alyrical could not have done any of it without God and the faith to believe in that inner vision instead of perishing.
